The problem
For every shipment, a shipping company has to weigh more than a dozen ever-changing factors to get cargo there safely and on time while protecting its margin. The information they need, from weather risks and lane congestion to port entry requirements and berthing, is volatile, decentralised, and hard to find. The pandemic made this painfully clear, with some ports backed up for weeks.
What we did
StarShip Intelligence Service gives small-business international shippers real-time, AI-driven analysis of shipping lanes and port traffic. We compare freight rates and lane conditions as they change and recommend route optimisations that adjust for weather risk, congestion, water conditions, and ship tracking warnings. When a port or canal seizes up, operators can see it in real time and quickly reroute cargo through a suitable alternative.
The outcome
Smaller shipping companies gain the efficiency, safety, and punctuality usually reserved for the largest players, raising their margins and lowering both risk and carbon footprint across cargo.
