The problem
Every freight shipment generates piles of documents for verification, customs and more, checked again at each port of call across multiple formats, languages and classifications. The result is a vast amount of disorganised data that has to be collated and shared repeatedly. Errors and inconsistencies lead to fines, losses and disputes, and translation alone can cost days or weeks of delay at ports.
What we did
We helped build DocuShip, which uses natural language processing and computer vision to extract, validate and analyse data from shipping documents such as manifests, bills of lading, invoices and certificates, including those in different languages. The platform detects and corrects errors before digitising the documents and building translation into the extraction step from the start. We store and verify records on a private blockchain so shippers, carriers, customs and brokers can share a tamper-proof audit trail, and we surface insights to improve the wider workflow. It is offered through a tiered subscription with value-added analytics and reporting services.
The outcome
We help shipping and logistics companies cut document errors, delays and translation costs while giving every party a single, trusted view of the paperwork.
